for air conditioning dealers, sales people and those that do estimating.
When I first started in the ac & heat business we did things a lot different and estimating was not as accurate as this program. It was an educated guess as to what the job will cost. Bring out the yellow pad to list all that is required to give a reasonable estimate.
Estimating especially the old fashioned way can be very time consuming.
Especially the type of duct ( metal lined - wrapped or bare, snaplock, spiral, fiberglass and any insulation required. Not only the material required but the labor ( number of men, man hours, to fabricate and install).
The sales price of material, labor, permits, etc and of course the markup can easily be changed to meet your requirement.
Over and over again we had to do the total square feet, lbs, stretch out, and lengths required for metal or fiberglass Duct which hopefully gave the true cost.
This Estimating program can eliminate those tedious task and perform a lot quicker, a whole lot quicker.
Some kept cost records of every job for many reasons but for estimating we could see what it may take for a comparable task. Others would just guess such as so much a ton, etc. I always wanted an accurate method or at least as close as I could get it. Dad always said "If you don't know your cost you might as well give the recipient a $50.00 check and go fishing for your meal".
Some methods remain the same and estimating seems to be in a hurry and is not as accurate as it should be. This program I developed over the years will offer you speed, accuracy and eliminate the use of that yellow pad. No more over and over again.
Estimating can be a losing proposition. Until you get the job ..... estimating is "dead overhead". Getting your share of estimates and several other factors is required but estimating is one very important process. The less time you spend on this process and the higher percent of the estimates signed the better off you will be. Time to put it together and to be as accurate as possible is very important.
This is a form that I have developed and used over the years, revised it to accomodate the project and building contractors, and to be as fast and accurate as possible.

Pricing, accuracy, and takeoff is much faster. Using the buttons or especially using the voice version.Sheets, (worksheets), are inputs for prices, labor, and quantity of items to be used in project. Each button shown on the left or tab at the top is a seperate sheet and can be accessed by using your mouse and clicking on each one.All sheets will automatically place their totals on the "Recap worksheet".At the left of this recap worksheet are buttons labeled "Scope, quotes, Saved prices, Duct and so on. Buttons that you can left click the mouse on them or if you are using the voice version just say the buttons name and they will take you to that worksheet. Not this one as it is a screen shot of the Recap worksheet and is not a working model.. The keyboard keys Ctrl - R will always take you to the "Recap" worksheet. ( Holding down the ctrl enter the R key and walla you are at the recapsheet.) or using the voice version just say "Recap".Material prices, labor, markup, taxes, permit, virtually anything can be changed to your company's standard or purchasing from you vendors and they can be changed with little effort. You or some one in your company can do this or I will be available to assist you and make changes for you, just contact me.
This program is ready for voice input ( the voice program is purchased seperately ). I use 75% to 85% of the input by voice which takes Dragon Naturally Speaking program and comes with it's own headset for voice input.
The voice input makes the program even faster and is very helpful to those that have developed Carpal Tunnel, Arthritis, or handicapped.

Below is the main sheet "RECAP" where other sheets place their totals.
The below "Duct" sheet is probably the most popular of all the sheets.
Some don't use every sheet, (why not mystifies me ), but they sure use this duct takeoff sheet. You will notice your input is Width - Depth - Length - And Code (type of duct).
Everything else is calculated for you. (After this sheet I will show an actual takeoff sheet with it's calculations done for you.
All duct stretch out, square feet, and pounds were taken from tables provided. They are on the "Tables" reference sheet. Even waste and fittings are factored in this estimate but can be changed to whatever you think.

I didn't go in order of the shown buttons but I want to give you something to go by.
One thing I was confronted with through time is the ability to quickly learn a process that would help us be better. Have someone I could count on when questions arose, not thrown to the wolves. There will be a learning curve there always is but to have someone that can provide that assistance when needed is so very important. Rest assured your learning curve is not complicated and you will have that assistance that is needed when you need it.
The below recap is an actual bid and what it looks like when printed. All the info shown on the "Recap" is done automatically for ones review and any adjustment. The labor shown as sub labor (on the right side) is not the company labor but it defaults to company labor unless changed as shown.
When a dollar amount is placed in the sub labors "Total rough in and / or total trim out" then companies labor is automatically not shown. If no amount is in those cells (total rough in / total trim) then the companies labor is shown but not sub labor.

So you can have either, whatever you want piece meal, sub labor or the companies labor.

To run the estimate program you will need to unzip it to the directory of your choice then you must have Lotus 123 version 9.8 installed.

If you are unfamiliar with Lotus 123 it has been in existence for a long time. I have used it as well as this estimate program for at least 10 plus years. While it may seem simple to me I want it to be simple for you as well.
